High-Functioning Anxiety
When everything looks fine—but you don’t feel fine.
You may be productive, dependable, successful, and the person everyone counts on while privately feeling tense, exhausted, restless, or unable to turn your mind off.
There is usually more underneath the symptom.
High-functioning anxiety can hide behind achievement, preparation, perfectionism, overthinking, and a constant need to stay ahead of what might go wrong. You may look calm while your nervous system is working overtime.
You do not have to arrive with the perfect explanation or diagnosis. We can start with what you are noticing now and make sense of the pattern together.
Understanding first. Change at a pace that fits.
We can slow down the cycle, understand what your anxiety is protecting you from, build nervous-system regulation skills, and work with the deeper experiences and beliefs that keep the alarm system activated. Depending on your needs, I may integrate EMDR, parts work, ACT, CBT, and somatic regulation.
My approach may draw from EMDR, parts/ego-state work, nervous-system regulation, ACT, CBT, and other evidence-informed strategies depending on what fits you.
