Trauma & Difficult Experiences
When the past is over, but your system hasn’t gotten the message.
Trauma does not always look like a dramatic memory. It can show up as hypervigilance, shutdown, relationship patterns, shame, avoidance, or a body that reacts before you know why.
There is usually more underneath the symptom.
Your responses may have made sense in the circumstances where they developed. Trauma-focused therapy helps you understand those adaptations without blaming yourself for having them.
You do not have to arrive with the perfect explanation or diagnosis. We can start with what you are noticing now and make sense of the pattern together.
Understanding first. Change at a pace that fits.
We start with safety and stabilization. When you are ready, trauma processing may include EMDR and parts work, paced carefully so you remain informed and in control.
My approach may draw from EMDR, parts/ego-state work, nervous-system regulation, ACT, CBT, and other evidence-informed strategies depending on what fits you.
